STEAM INJECTION PLANTS
(STIG)
One of the steam-gas versions is the type which utilizes steam injection inside the gas turbine path for power augmentation. The same principal used with CHP units thermal potential of exhaust gas can be used
for steam production by a waste heat recovery boiler.
Yet, contrary to cogen units, steam is used not as heat-transfer agent but is supplied to gas turbine as additional working media for mechanical power augmentation of the gas turbine. Such a cycle is called STIG.
STIG type sets are characterized by:
– power augmentation up to 80% versus basic engine;
– cost effective NOx emission reduction;
– cost effective level of capitals $/kW installed electric power.
Zorya-Mashproekt offers two types of STIG units
– units of non-converted (S1) and converted (S2) gas path within the basic gas turbine.
Units of S1 version are able to operate with high effectiveness in cogeneration cycle using steam in natural form as well as for power augmentation through steam injection in the gas path.
Both cases provide high effectiveness of operation.
This feature of S1 units gives flexibility of steam utilization while commercial operation.
Conversion of basic engines gas path for 52 units increases full throttle electric power and efficiency while using the steam injection mode of operation.
